My New Years Transformation Challenge Reflection
Wow, 12 weeks has gone by and I can barely believe my youngest son is now three months old already!
Declan was born Dec 12th, 2008 and less than a month later I was back to my full fledged FYM routine just in time for this New Years Transformation Challenge! That is why this lifestyle is so great, pregnant or not, pre or post natal this lifestyle is completely adaptable to anyone’s circumstance!
Where to start?
Where do I even begin to reflect on the impact this Challenge let alone this Lifestyle has had on me!
I realize we are supposed to reflect on the last twelve weeks but this last twelve weeks is only an accumulation of what the past 16 months have aspired to.
From starting out as a Fit Yummy Mummy after my second son was born, I reaped the benefits every day as I incorporated each new habit along the way. Now to experiencing this lifestyle throughout yet another pregnancy and continuing to instill life long healthy habits each and every chance I get I cannot even imagine my life any differently!
To an extent and this may sound completely absurd, I am more proud of myself for the healthy habits and positive characteristics that I have developed over these past twelve weeks than I am of the actual physical numbers that I have lost. These habits and qualities will stay with me from now on and allow me to achieve more of my measurable goals!
To reflect on this New Years Transformation Challenge I will look back to my original goals I had set out at the start on Jan. 7, 2009.
CONSISTENCY ~
I must stay consistent in order to achieve long term results.
I can honestly say that this is the first time out of any of the Challenges that I have stayed 100% consistent to my workouts. I did not miss one Resistance Workout nor a single Interval session!
ACCOUNTABILITY ~
I will log on to CLUB FYM to post my daily scores and to stay in touch with other Fit Yummy Mummy’s!
I have logged onto Club FYM each and everyday of this Challenge! Whether it was to add my progress journal or a blog for each week or to provide support and encouragement to my fellow FYM’s, I stayed in touch and continue to be accountable to each and everyone of you!
We have a small group of local Fit Yummy Mummy’s in our area and on occasion I host a FYM Pow Wow session! These are wonderful for us to discuss our strategies, our ups and downs and our successes! One of these FYM’s, Jessica and I are attempting to workout together more and this provides a HUGE motivating factor to our workouts as we can increase our intensity as we push each other along!
Keeping a Thorough Food Journal ~
I will maintain an accurate journal of ALL of my food intake.
This goal was not carried out fully. YES, I did complete a food log faithfully for the first half of the challenge, the second half I must say was sporadic. The addition of a kitchen scale thanks to my husband was a HUGE eye opener to me! Who knew my salad could be 500 calories! I love my new scale and use it every week, not so much at every meal but I use it along with the Online Menu Planner to gauge where my calories are to ensure I am staying within my allotted limit. Speaking of my calories and the range with which I am currently at; I fear that once I am done breast feeding I will have a hard time reducing my calories. I can only hope that as I begin to wean off from breast feeding my desire for extra food will also wean itself off!
Lose Inches Gained ~
Since I am 3 weeks post pregnancy my goal is to lose the inches I have gained from this pregnancy and reach my measurements from the end of the first Transformation Challenge in the spring of 2008
I am extremely pleased to report that I was able to achieve and surpass this goal!! Not only did I lose the inches and all the weight gained from this pregnancy I also surpassed my results from the Spring Transformation Challenge in 2008! What an exhilarating feeling to have achieved so much! Consistency and a positive mindset have been the key to my success!
Long Term Goals:
Ultimate Health and Complete Physical Fitness
Wow, now that I read this goal back to myself I think…woah what did I mean by this? Ultimate health and complete physical fitness is what I will be working on and then maintaining for the rest of my life. This does not just end once I reach my desired weight or size, this is a life long journey and my Ultimate Health depends on Complete Physical Fitness!
A Role Model to my boys
Although my children are still young, all under 5 years old, I am still making a huge impact on their lives! Actions speak louder than words and they are learning that mommy enjoys staying active! My two oldest join in with me and my 4.5 year old knows what a mountain climber and a spiderman crawl are and can perform each one! This makes this lifestyle all the more worth it and realistic to me!
I am extremely proud of myself for what I have accomplished in this New Years Transformation Challenge! Determination, clear defined goals, and a positive mindset are the keys to anyone’s success no matter what they are after. I have learnt that I possess each and every one of these characteristics and along with the amazing support and accountability provided by my friends and coach on Club FYM this has allowed me to be so successful! Thank you ladies and of course Holly for without you this wouldn’t be possible! On to the next Challenge!
Excuse the outfit, I was too excited to get these pictures done that I took them first thing in the morning, bed head hair, nursing bra, no makeup and all!
